Intro:
Hi everyone, and welcome to The Wiser Financial Advisor with Keystone Financial Services, where we get real, we get honest, and we get clear about the financial world and your money. Let the financial fun begin!
Jeremy: Welcome to this podcast takeover once again. I’m Certified Financial Planner™ Jeremy Busch, and with me today is Jen Walenter. Today’s conversation is about Keystone in the community and some of the charities and organizations we support throughout the year.
Jen: Yes, this is something near and dear to us.
Jeremy: Many of these causes have been introduced to us through our clients. Keystone has always believed in being actively involved in the community as a way to give back. Let’s go through the list.
Jen: First up is Philo (https://www.philoloveland.org/), a women-led organization in Loveland. They provide scholarships for two-year trade schools and host an annual women’s golf tournament at Marianna Butte. We’ve supported Philo for years, and it’s always a joy to attend their gala and golf events while helping raise money for their mission.
Jeremy: Yeah, we always have fun supporting that one.
Jeremy: Another important one is Alternatives to Violence (alternativestoviolence.org). Their biggest fundraiser is Pastels on 5th, a downtown Loveland art festival each September. They focus on providing shelter, advocacy, education, and resources for people impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. My wife has been a pastel artist at this event for many years, and it’s such a colorful, inspiring way to support the cause.
Jen: And Keystone usually posts pictures on Facebook. It’s great to see how many people come together for such a meaningful event.
Jen: One that’s especially close to my heart is Realities for Children (realitiesforchildren.com). They provide emergency and ongoing support for children who have been abused, neglected, or are at risk. Keystone sponsors them every year, and we attend monthly luncheons to hear firsthand about the lives changed by their work. They also host the annual Realities Ride & Rally and a big tree lighting each December.
Jeremy: Yeah, the impact they’ve made in Northern Colorado is incredible.
Jeremy: Next up is Habitat for Humanity (habitat.org). Keystone participates in their annual Women’s Build. Our staff and clients come together to help build homes for families in need. Whether it’s painting, landscaping, or even framing, it’s always fulfilling to see the difference these builds make.
Jen: One of my favorite moments was seeing a finished home that we helped start the year before. Meeting the new homeowner made it all come full circle.
Jen: Through Broadcom, we’ve also been involved with United Way (unitedway.org). They host a charity golf tournament every year, and it’s always a good time—even if your golf game isn’t the best, Jeremy.
Jeremy: That’s true! But it’s always fun to play while supporting a bigger cause.
Jeremy: Another organization we support is Resurrection Christian School (RCS) (rcschool.org). Josh and Sarah’s kids attend RCS, and we’ve participated in their annual gala, which raises funds for educational opportunities.
Jen: Twice a year, Keystone joins the City of Fort Collins Bike to Work Day (fcgov.com/bicycling/bike-to-work-day). We hand out coffee, cocoa, and swag to cheer on cyclists. The summer event is especially fun with families biking together.
Jeremy: I love seeing the smiles when people stop by.
Jeremy: One of Keystone’s biggest traditions is supporting Toys for Tots (toysfortots.org), run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Every Thanksgiving we kick off our toy drive at our pie event, and our office lobby fills with donations from clients. The toys are distributed year-round, not just at Christmas, which makes a lasting difference for children in need.
Jen: Last year our donations overflowed the lobby, and the Marine picking them up had to make multiple trips to his car. Our clients are incredibly generous!
Jen: Another cause is the Loveland Veterans Honor Monument (lovelandveteransmonument.org). It began with the idea to honor Loveland High School veterans and has grown into a city-wide memorial for all veterans. They’ve raised funds through concerts, dinners, and golf events, and the monument is being built at Loveland Sports Park.
Jeremy: It’s been exciting to watch that project come together.
Jen: And finally, Jeremy, you’ve got one that’s personal to you—Tran’s Martial Arts (https://transloveland.com/).
Jeremy: That’s right. While it’s not a charity, I volunteer as an instructor there. The Tran family, who immigrated from Vietnam, has run these schools for over 30 years. Thousands of kids have come through their programs, learning discipline, focus, and confidence. It’s one of the most rewarding ways I get to give back.
Jen: We’ve covered a lot of organizations today! If you’re listening and know of a charity we should support, big or small, please reach out. Visit us at www.keystonefinancial.com, or email us—we’d love to hear from you.
Jeremy: Absolutely. Many of these opportunities came to us through our clients. Serving the community is part of Keystone’s culture, and we’re always open to new ways to give back.
Jen: Thanks for joining us for this community spotlight episode.
Jeremy: And thank you, Jen.
